A Word from the Social Service Coordinator . . .
Social Service Coordinators are present in every school within the Olympia School District. Our job responsibilities cover a wide spectrum of related roles, but currently allow us to work full-time in one school building (at most schools). At Madison I function as the social worker, school psychologist, and school counselor. I feel very strongly about parent involvement in schools and am always looking for new ways to support parents. I welcome you to stop by my office anytime. I can be reached directly at 596-6304.
As school psychologist I work predominantly with special education services, including testing, and always, lots of paper work! As school counselor I am able to go into all of the classrooms and teach social skill/bully-prevention programs. I also work informally with individual students and small groups throughout the year. As school social worker I try to support families, by linking them with resources and helping them to problem solve in difficult situations.
I have been at Madison since January of 1994 and both of my daughters went to school here for all of their elementary education. I live in the neighborhood and am proud not only of Madison, but of our friendly eastside neighborhood community! If there is anyway I can be of a help to you, please do not hesitate to call.
