Madison Elementary to Close?

On Thursday, December 14th the Olympia School Board identified two elementary schools as candidates for closure, Madison Elementary and McKenny Elementary. This initiates a 90 day window for the public to provide input on this proposal. Once this 90-day window is closed, the board will make its final decision regarding school closures.

I want to personally assure you that we the Madison staff are fully here to support you and your children during this time, as we always are. I will certainly let you know as soon as I know when the community input meetings have been scheduled by the Olympia School Board

Please, if you have any questions, concerns, or would simply like to talk, do reach out to me or one of our staff. We are here to help.

If you would prefer to communicate directly to Superintendent Murphy or the Olympia School Board, please find the contact information below.

LinkUp Chaperones Needed for 4th Graders

On January 18, all OSD fourth graders (and third graders in a ¾ split class) will be going to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, along with their recorders to play with the Olympia Symphony Orchestra. Thank you to those of you who have already turned in your permission slips. We need at least three parent volunteers to chaperone the field trip to listen and play with the Olympia Symphony. If you are interested in chaperoning, please reach out to me via email ([email protected]) and I will put your name on the list.

Madison Student Supplies (Adopt a Class)

As many of you know, Madison is the only school in the Olympia School District that provides Back to School supplies at no cost to all our students. We are able to do this by generous contributions in the form of supplies or monetary donations. To get a head start on fundraising for September’s School Supplies, a Madison Wish List has been created on Amazon for community members to browse and select items they wish to purchase for our students. Madison provides school supplies to all new students who enroll throughout the year. You can help provide school supplies for all our new students and also for our Adopt a Class program by checking out the Madison Wish List at http://a.co/8PPiCMC . Please contact the principal if you have any questions about Madison’s Adopt a Class program.
