On Thursday, December 14th the Olympia School Board identified two elementary schools as candidates for closure, Madison Elementary and McKenny Elementary. This initiates a 90 day window for the public to provide input on this proposal. Once this 90-day window is closed, the board will make its final decision regarding school closures.

I want to personally assure you that we the Madison staff are fully here to support you and your children during this time, as we always are. I will certainly let you know as soon as I know when the community input meetings have been scheduled by the Olympia School Board

On January 18, all OSD fourth graders (and third graders in a ¾ split class) will be going to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, along with their recorders to play with the Olympia Symphony Orchestra. Thank you to those of you who have already turned in your permission slips. We need at least three parent volunteers to chaperone the field trip to listen and play with the Olympia Symphony. If you are interested in chaperoning, please reach out to me via email (adewitt@osd.wednet.edu) and I will put your name on the list.

As a reminder, the Olympia School District has an anonymous tip line that allows students or families to report safety concerns to school officials 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
